Holly Mills (b. 1990, London, UK) creates mixed-media works through a process derived from automatism and the somatics of environment. She describes her practice as akin to dreaming; allowing repeated motifs and fixations–ecology, sleep, language, water– to emerge through an exploration of materials. Mills’s works are accumulations of experience; shaped by the elusiveness of inner thought, repetition and time, they become landscapes of interiority.

Mills graduated from The Drawing Year postgraduate program in 2018, and studied at Camberwell College of Arts (BA Hons Illustration) in 2012. Recent exhibitions include: Changing Times, Galerie C, Paris, France (2024), A Painting Show, Staffordshire St, London, UK (2024), The unwritten script, Sarah Kravitz Gallery, London, UK (2024), All this wrath, Blueshop galleries, London, UK (2024) and A closed door, a den, Arusha Gallery, Bruton, UK (2023).
