Artground’s inaugural exhibition 'Meet Me on the First Floor'' took place from 30th November 2023 - Sunday 3rd December 2023.
Meet Me on the First Floor was a multi-disciplinary exhibition, bringing together seven emerging artists and seven different ways of seeing, translating and communicating the world in art. Wink King Moe, Nathalie Hollis, Helena Lacy, Gerry De Banzie, Melanie Issaka, Lucie Gray, and Barnaby Lewis exhibited their respective paintings, drawings, ceramics, sculptures, and photography, coming together in an easy, stirring, dynamic companionship curated by Artground founder Betty Sims-Hilditch.
In Meet Me on the First Floor, each artist’s work was an expression of deep self-discovery, reflection, grounding, and empowerment. Each work offers a distinctive, edifying communion, and with it a unique way of meeting the artist in their work. Meet Me on the First Floor displays the infrangible tie in art between heart and hand, of creation and experience, of living and making, of movement and stillness.
The artwork was exhibited in Whitechapel, in a bare yet theatrical space, chosen for its exposure of the architectural interior and its invitation to communal gathering and elevated observation.
